Creating Offers
Offers are the core of your Stream. Each offer is an MBO — a Seller Brand Offer — and the quality of your offer listings directly affects buyer confidence and conversion.
Types of offers
SWIM supports four offer types. Choose the one that matches what you’re selling:
- Physical product — a tangible item you ship to the buyer. At claim time, the buyer provides a shipping address. You mark the offer fulfilled when delivery is confirmed.
- Digital download — a file delivered automatically when claimed. This includes software, documents, templates, audio files, or any other digital asset. Fulfillment is automatic; no manual action required.
- Service — a time-based engagement: a consultation, a lesson, a repair, a custom creative project. The buyer claims the offer; you fulfill it when the service is completed and confirmed.
- Experience — event access, an exclusive pass, a ticket to something specific. Useful for workshops, pop-ups, screenings, or any offer where participation is the product.
The offer type you choose determines what information is collected at claim time and what your fulfillment workflow looks like.
Setting a Drop price
Every offer requires a Drop price — the number of Drops a buyer evaporates to claim it. There’s no fixed conversion rate between Drops and dollars; Drop pricing is a creative and strategic decision.
Consider these factors when setting Drop prices: the real-world value of the offer, how scarce you want the offer to feel, and what kind of buyer you want to attract. Higher Drop prices self-select for buyers who are more invested. Lower Drop prices maximize accessibility. Neither is universally right.
Images and descriptions
Images matter. Buyers form their first impression from your offer images before reading a word. Use clear, well-lit photos that show the actual product or represent the service honestly. Multiple images are better than one.
Your description should answer three questions: What is this? What does the buyer receive? What makes it worth their Drops? Keep it direct. Buyers who have to work to understand an offer usually don’t claim it.
Draft vs. published
Offers start in draft state and are invisible to buyers until you publish them. Use draft state to build out your offer catalog before your Stream goes live, or to prep a new offer before a launch date. Once published, an offer appears on your Stream immediately and is claimable by any buyer with sufficient Drops.
You can unpublish an offer at any time. Unpublishing removes it from your public Stream but preserves the offer record — useful if you’re temporarily out of stock or want to rework the listing.
Tips for strong offer listings
- Lead with the most compelling image, not the most generic one
- State the Drop price alongside the actual value — help buyers feel the exchange is fair
- For physical products, be explicit about what’s included (and what’s not)
- For services, state the expected timeline and what “fulfilled” means concretely
- Keep descriptions scannable — short paragraphs, not walls of text
